Companies need to be more and more careful to act, manage and produce sustainably and responsibly. The trend to treat the environment more respectfully seems to continue to grow in society. Measures for this trend will also be enforced at government level. Since mid-2023, the new CSRD (Corporate Social Responsbility Directive) Directive has been applied. This EU requirement requires companies to show in detail how their activities impact on the environment. The mandatory sustainability reporting requires that companies provide information that offers both a retrospective and a proactive perspective and include a short, medium and long term period. This directive affects not only large corporations, but also small and medium-sized enterprises.

To support these companies, a cooperation with the defotec GmbH in Dettenhausen near Tübingen has been created, with which a promising project called "Green Controlling" was launched. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) provides financial support in the context of the Central Innovation Programme (ZIM).
The project
The main objective of the project is to develop an innovative software that supports companies across all industries to capture and optimize the ecological impact of products or product components over their entire life cycle. In this case, a so-called digital twin is used to digitally map the complete value chain of a product during the entire manufacturing process. One thing is clear: a transparent and effective controlling of economically comprehensible sustainability is only possible with the right tools. For this, it requires a software that not only increases the increasing complexity, but at the same time offers an intuitive user interface in order to allow an effective planning. This precision coupled with user-friendliness is exactly what our software is.
